he bright green valley, under the sparkling blue sky, is surrounded by the Mighty Himalayas from all sides. It is a wonderful land full of flowers of lively colours and is an oval area farmed by three Himalayans ranges - the Karakoram, Zanskar and Pir Panjal. Kashmir is a beautiful place with unusual fruits, plants and flowers.

Indian airlines are now operating regular flight from Delhi to Srinagar and from Jammu to Mumbai. Jet airways are also available today for the flight from Srinagar to Delhi. Now the distance from one place to another is not at all a problem.

Houseboats, lakes, temples, fairs and festivals, hill stations, adventure & sports, trekking, pilgrimage, wildlife, gardens, monasteries, Buddhist temples, etc. are key attractions of Kashmir tourism.

Kashmir is renowned all over the globe for its amazing craftsmanship. Wood carving is unique and special art of this place. The walnut furniture of Kashmir is also very famous. Some famous handicraft are hand-knotted rugs and traditional rugs, carpets, embroidered woollen caps, shawls and jackets, the Jamawar, silk-soft Pashmina shawls, crewel embroidery, embroidered gold and silver dresses, caps, and ponchos.

Once in Kashmir we cannot ignore the Leh District, newly added territory to the state Jammu and Kashmir is Leh. Leh is the first settlement of Tibetan royalty in India. Leh Palace is the hallmark of this royalty. Travellers from all corners of the world visit Leh for mountain activities. Best time to visit Leh is the month of April - July. The Leh Palace on the top of the hill gallantly looks down as a guardian to the town. Stupas and Gompas decorate Leh which remind us of their history still kept alive by the native people. It's a home away from home, everyone knows everybody.

Kashmir is an all season holiday destination, each season giving a new colour to the region. However, the months of March to October are regarded as the best time to visit the region owing to the cool and pleasant weather conditions.

Lush green landscape, mesmerizing waterfalls, stunning snow capped mountains, scenic lakes, and peaceful ambiance, make Kashmir an ideal holiday destination for nature lovers but that does not mean that the place has nothing to offer to the adventure enthusiast.
