Famous Beaches of Cancun

With more than 120 attractions, 140 hotels, and 380 restaurants, your week-long vacation in Cancun or the Riviera Maya will seem too short to enjoy everything this little piece of paradise has to offer. To make the most out of your short stay, make sure to plan accordingly and enjoy these must-dos of your Caribbean vacation.

Naturally, Cancun's biggest attraction is the beaches with their soft, white sand and brilliant turquoise-blue water. Cancun's Hotel Zone is one long beach separated from the mainland by a system of lagoons and bridges. The beautiful white sands of Cancun's beaches are light and cool underfoot even in the blazing sun, because it is composed not of silica but rather of microscopic plankton fossils and crushed coral.

Playa Las Perlas - Located at the beginning of the Hotel Zone where the land begins stretching into the Caribbean, this beach is a popular choice for swimming and other water sports. When you've finished having fun in the water, Playa Las Perlas also has plenty of charming restaurants and bars.

Cancun beaches are white powder sands that are made of almost 100% porous limestone. This makes the sands cool to walk on even under the hot tropical sun. The ocean temperature is warm, as expected, and reaches its highest temperatures in late August and early September.

The beaches are one of Cancun's most famous attractions, and everyone seems to enjoy the endless activities that abound on almost every beach. Almost any dirt road heading toward the Caribbean will eventually take you to a beach. If you are looking for information on beaches, shopping, nightlife, maps, timeshares or any type of other activity we forgot to mention, just ask--we can help you. Look down any beach, at almost any time, and you will see people enjoying the calming effects that seem to instantly relieve the tensions of everyday life.

Playa Caracol - This is a great beach for children because of the shallow flat sandy seabed. It is also one of the most crowded beaches along the strip. There are restaurants, bars and numerous activities here.

One of the most popular beaches around Cancun can be found at Playa Caracol. This beautiful beach has long stretches of glimmering soft sand and clear shallow water leading out into a smooth sandy bottom. This is a hugely popular area for families with the children enjoying the crystal clear water and later can enjoy looking round the shops close by or enjoy a delicious meal at one of the nearby restaurants.

For a fun and exciting end to your day at the beach, visit Coral Negro, a Mexican handicrafts market that is a short walk from Playa Chac Mool. The myriad of shops at this market feature traditional Mexican handicrafts from all over the country, from sombreros and clothing, to toys and handmade sculptures or statues.
